The candidates in 2021 elections submitted their campaign disclosure reports to the New York City Campaign Finance Board (NYCCFB) last Friday. Among the citywide candidates, some of the biggest winners were Mayoral candidate Ray McGuire; Comptroller candidate David Weprin; and incumbent Public Advocate Jumaane Williams (D).

Jan. 15 was the deadline by which all candidates had to submit the details of their fundraising from July 2020 to Jan. 2021. These numbers will determine their eligibility for the third round of NYCCFB’s campaign matching funds program, which will take place on Feb. 15.

Of all the candidates, Ray McGuire took home the biggest sum by far: a total of $4,885,379 in private funds. In a distant second was Mayoral candidate Shaun Donovan ($941,174), followed by Zachary Iscol ($746,190) and Maya Wiley ($720,608).

Wiley, however, had by far the highest number of contributors: 6,976. McGuire came in second with 3,709, and Dianne Morales came in third, with 3,049.

In the Public Advocate race, incumbent Jumaane Williams outraised his challengers by a huge margin. He took in $105,186 in total, while candidate Theo B. Chino raised $17,473 and Anthony L. Herbert raised $13,820. Williams also boasted a relatively small average donation size – $127.

In the Comptroller race, David Weprin received the most in private funds ($282,211) from the second greatest number of contributors (1.049). Notably, only 15.56 percent of that money came from donors outside New York City; among the Comptroller candidates, only Brad Lander received a smaller percentage of his private funds from out-of-city donors (5.33 percent). Lander also had the distinction of having the greatest number of contributors among the Comptroller candidates (2,089).

Look below for a readout of every candidate who raised $1,000 or more:
