De La Rosa Speaks at Hispanic Heritage Month Conference

Yesterday, Assembly Member Carmen De La Rosa (D-Upper Manhattan) joined caregivers in Northern Manhattan to speak at the “Conferencia para el cuidador Latino”.

The conference was hosted by several Spanish-speaking caregivers in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Those in attendance could receive free information and resources and partake in raffles.

“It was a pleasure to participate today by encouraging them to care for themselves and become engaged with our community,” De La Rosa said in a tweet.


Krueger, Hoylman to Sponsor Forum on Residential Recycling

State Senators Liz Krueger (D-Upper East Side, Lenox Hill) and Brad Hoylman (D-Chelsea, Midtown) will be sponsoring a forum on residential recycling in two weeks.

The forum will educate attendees on how to make their homes “part of the solution” by organizing it for recycling and composting.

The forum will take place on Monday, Oct. 7 from 6-8 p.m. at the Loft at Marble Church, 274 Fifth Ave.


Gottfried, Brewer to Host Single Payer Town Hall Meeting

Assembly Member Richard Gottfried (D-Chelsea, Midtown) and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer (D) will be hosting a town hall meeting on the New York Health Act this Monday.

The meeting will cover current gaps in healthcare coverage and how the New York Health Act, an Assembly bill that Gottfried is sponsoring, will fill those gaps. It will also cover the “Medicare for All” plans that several Democratic primary candidates have pitched.

The meeting will take place on Monday, Sep. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Hartley House, 413 West 46th St.
